Welcome to the Asteroids3D Home Page!
News
- Asteroids3D is now being maintained by Jan Engelhardt, for the latest
stuff, go to:
http://jengelh.hopto.org/p/as3d/
- A3D has made Zonker's Product Picks in Linux Magazine of
America as well. Check out the October 2000 issue! Thanks Zonker!
- Asteroids3D will be covered in the October 8 issue of
Linux Magazine in Japan. Thanks!
- nVidia users, I think I've got the threading problem which
has been causing A3D to crash on your systems fixed. Please
download the newest version and give it a try. I'm interested
in any constructive feedback you have for me.
About Asteroids3D
- The Asteroids3D program is Copyright (C) 2000 Stuart Mark Pomerantz and I have placed
it under the GNU General Public Licence. Please see the
GNU Website http://www.gnu.org for more information. A copy of the
GPL is included with the source.
- Asteroids3D requires the Mesa3d graphics library.
Asteroids3D does not require a hardware accelerator card to work, but it will be more
smooth if you have one.
- Right now Asteroids3D compiles without error on Red Hat GNU/Linux 6.0 and 6.2. I plan on
porting it to other hardware if I can get access to more hardware, and I have the
time.
- Please remember that A3D is a work in progress! I'm happy to have constructive feedback
from you at smp@psc.edu
- A3D is now at version 0.2.2. Download the latest version of the source code here.
- Please see the A3D changelog for details about what's changed.
- Here is a presentation I did about A3D.
Thank You !
- Thanks to Rob R. for his contributed patch and graphic! I've already
incorporated some of Rob's modifications in the A3D source, and I'll
more will come! His whole patch and graphic are in the contrib directory
in the a3d source.
- Thanks to Iioka S. of
Linux Magazine in Japan for putting Asteroids3D in the
"Free Application Showcase" of Linux Magazine.
- Thanks to Craig G., Sean P., Dirk V., Gregory M., & Stephen M. for their help
detecting and fixing the nVidia threading bug. Thank these people if you like
A3D and you use an nVidia card to accelerate it. A3D wouldn't work on nVidia without
their help. I have left their last names off to respect their privacy. If your
name should be here and I missed it, I appologize, let me know.
- Thanks Brian Paul et. al. for your excellent work on Mesa3D!
